Welcome to Our Rally Campaign!
We are raising funds to support this unique program designed to give back to those who have served our country. In the fall of 2014, USRowing launched Freedom Rows and began opening boathouse doors throughout the country to disabled veterans and members of the armed services. Our veterans experience the full range of opportunities and benefits to be gained from rowing, whether recreationally at their VA sports facility or local club or competing in the Paralympics - and it's changing their lives!
Through the Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Members of the Armed Forces, USRowing has partnered with VA rehabilitation hospitals and USRowing member organizations across the country. Because of all your support we have been able to double the size of our program!
Why We're Raising Funds
In order to provide rowing opportunities to even more injured veterans and members of the armed services, we must expand Freedom Rows to offer additional race opportunities, start programs in more cities and VA hospitals, and do more outreach at more events.
Primary Program Goals:
-
Increasing the number of disabled veterans participating and competing in adaptive and para-rowing;
-
Providing expert training and technical assistance in adaptive rowing to VA adaptive sports program managers, community rowing coaches and instructors, and VA recreational therapists; and
- Providing outreach coordination, Paralympic classification of athletes, FISA-certified training of classifiers, adaptive rowing program development, adaptive rowing equipment, evaluation, and other activities related to the implementation and operation of the program.
Money raised during the USRowing Freedom Rows Rally will be used to:
- Provide travel funding for Freedom Rows' athletes to compete at the 2016 Bayada Regatta, 2016 Masters Nationals, 2016 Head of the Charles, and additional race opportunities;
-
Increase the number of Freedom Rows' outreach events to introduce the sport and provide expert instruction and coaching to a greater number of disabled veterans;
-
Provide additional equipment and financial support to the existing Freedom Rows programs;
- Develop Freedom Rows programs in additional cities and VA hospitals.
Join Our Team and Spread the Word!
Please chip in whatever you can to support those who have given so much to our country.
Your donation will have a direct benefit toward the success of Freedom Rows, and through that, the well-being of our veterans.
Warmest regards,
USRowing

Augustin Olivares | As a Navy veteran myself, I want to say I just saw the word veteran and knew I had to contribute. The military on all levels can change someone drastically, and it can only get worse it seems. But rowing I found is a delicate, yet powerful sport with great potential to make people feel great and relax. It is wonderful and thank your organization for providing it to us so gracefully, |
